Abyss

The Breach's islands and biomes are split apart, leaving playable negative space in what is called the Abyss. A universal hazard for all players, the Abyss is where most aerial dueling comes into play, attempting to hit an enemy while they use their Glider to stay afloat. Falling into the Abyss is a guaranteed death.
Spiking
Players are Vulnerable while Gliding. When hit by most attacks, Gliding players will take double damage from the hit and drop their glider, falling to the ground and becoming Stunned. If this happens over the Abyss, the gliding player who was hit will plummet to their near certain death. This is known as Spiking. Some downward Impulses, such as Jin's Death Blow (Q2), over the abyss achieve a similar result to spiking; the hit unit will be Stunned and sent plummeting down as if they were Spiked.
Mantling
Gliding is risky and generally unsafe, but players can touch an island's side while falling into the Abyss to perform a Mantle, springing them back up onto the landmass they've touched. Mantling is an incredibly valuable mobility tool to avoid using Gliders in hostile situations.
