Biography
The Sky Realms hold many secrets to be revealed..
Short Story
For the first few centuries, you're restrained and patient, careful not to over-interfere. You're powerful, but you also have principles, and as much as you want to improve the world, you want to do it the RIGHT way, but the centuries stack up, and though there are bright spots, the same sorts of people keep making the same sorts of mistakes. Some even trash the world on purpose: selfish people, with power like yours, but fewer principles.
So you grow impatient. Jaded. As much as you want to trust them--these incomprehensibly short-lived creatures, ransacking the world just to die out and crawl back and ransack it all over again--it gets harder every decade, famine after famine, war after war after war. And the thought that takes root is one you would once have suppressed; a thought that, though it reeks of a worldly arrogance you despise, is intoxicating all the same:
You could do better.
If you were in charge, you could do a better job.
You could save so many lives, prevent so much suffering, heal the weary planet's wounds.
So you begin, for the first time in your life, to truly use your power.
But it doesn't work.
The obstacle proves to be the same short-sighted people whose lives you're attempting to improve. You draw on all remaining patience to explain to them your history, the things you've seen that they've forgotten, the reasons they should trust you.
But they don't.
They take up swords, and other weapons that while primitive by your standards are potent used en masse, and oppose you, drive you out.
More centuries pass in angry contemplation. Your conclusions drawn are twofold.
First: You'll never win them over. Not with words.
Second: You owe it to them--and not only them, but all the ones to come--to try and fix things anyway.
So you try.
You try, and are called a monster and a tyrant. You try, and are outnumbered and defeated many times by so-called heroes in bedazzled suits of armor. But you always get back up and try again.
You're still trying today.
